CBD is a natural compound found in the flower of industrial hemp, a plant that has a rich history as a medicine that goes back thousands of years. From a medical point of view, CBD is very useful for a wide range of applications due to its mode of action. By binding to cannabinoid receptors in the body, CBD relieves spasms and pain, acts as an anti-inflammatory and protects human nerve cells. Today, the therapeutic properties of CBD are tested and confirmed by scientists and doctors around the world. It has no psychoactive properties, and studies have shown that it does not cause addiction. The US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has approved Epidiolex, the first drug based exclusively on CBD for the treatment of two types of epilepsy. Because of its calming effects, CBD helps people find relief from anxiety and stress.
THC is a psychoactive ingredient and will affect your brain, while CBD will not. CBD is a non-psychotropic compound, and numerous studies show that CBD even helps counteract the intoxicating effects of THC that can cause anxiety or paranoia, while CBD has the exact opposite effect and therefore has potential for clinical use in psychiatry.
A high-quality CBD product with minimal THC is very unlikely to show up in a drug test, however a low-quality product without lab findings and/or certification may contain higher levels of THC than they claim, in that in case it is possible that testing shows the presence of drugs in the body. According to Article 39 of Regulation (EC) no. 73/2009, in Croatia and most European countries, the cultivation of industrial hemp is allowed only if the proportion of THC does not exceed 0.2%.
